 Week3-Game Brainstorm

Action Games:

What is an action game?: They are games where the player is in  control of and at the center of the action, which is mainly comprised of physical challenges players must overcome, action games are usually easy to get into and they make up most of the popular video games.

Types of action games: There are many different types of action games for example Plat-former games are usually games where the character you are player as is doing certain types of moving like running, jumping and falling  throughout the gameplay.Shooter games let the player use weapons to engage in the action with the goal of taking out the enemy to win the game.Fighting games Focus on combat mostly hand to hand combat where you can use a series of button combination to do something in the game called a combo.

Example of action games:  Plat-formers- Uncharted, Rachel and Clank, Super Mario Bros, Sly Cooper. Shooters- Call of duty, Halo, Doom, Overwatch. Fighting games- Mortal Kombat, Street fighter, Dragon ball Z.

Action-Adventure Games:

What is an action-adventure game?: They are a game that incorporate like long quest or obstacles that must be conquered using a tool, as well as an action element where the items are used. One of the best example of an action-adventure game is The Legend of Zelda which is a game that focus on puzzle solving while also having basic combat in the game.

Types of action-adventure games: There are many different types of action-adventure games for example Survival Horror games: Games like Resident evil is a great example of a action-adventure game Resident evil is a game that uses a mature theme and portrays a gruesome setting, the game brings high and exciting action in the game with an added mechanic like limited resources like ammunition or maybe a weapon that eventual runs out of health so it gets destroyed.

Examples of action-adventure games: The Legend of Zelda, Tomb Raider, God of War, Resident evil.

Role-Playing Games:

What is an role-playing game?: Probably the second most popular video game genre, role-playing games or rpg games for short, are games that are set in a medieval or fantasy setting, this is due because of the origin of the genre which traces back from the old board game dungeons and dragons.

Types of role-playing games: There are many different types of role-playing games for example Action RPG: These games take game elements of both action games and action-adventure games, with these types of games the combat takes place in real time and depends on the players reaction time to defeat the enemy. MMORPG: Which also stands for massive multiplayer online role playing games, these types of games involve hundreds and hundreds of playing interacting which each other, a lot of players do like to pretend that they are the character that they are playing as.

Examples of role-playing games: World of Warcraft,  Guild Wars, The Elder Scrolls Online, Star Trek Online.

Strategy Games:

What is an strategy game?: These types if games have gameplay based on traditional strategy board games, strategy games give players a access to the world and it's resources, these types of games requires the player to use their brain and carefully developed strategy and tactics to overcome the challenges on the game, now a days most of these games have turned into turned based games.

Types of strategy games: Real-Time strategy: real-time strategy games requires the player to collect and maintain resources in their own bases and while using these resources they make combat units and other resources, and go to the enemy base and destroy the enemy base.  Tower Defense: In these types of games players must fight off  computer- controlled enemies to win the game, each tower defense game varies and has different elements.

Examples of strategy games: Star craft,  Kingdom rush, Plants vs Zombies, Dungeon Defenders, Orcs must die.

Why are you interested in these games?: I picked these games because I think in my opinion these are probably sum of the most popular gaming genres, and I have played all these genres, the genre that I played the most was action- games but i did play the others here and there but I do prefer to play fast pace action games.

What previous knowledge you have?: Like I said before I've played every genre I mentioned before and I think that will help me with what type of game I would want to create.

What kind of games would you like to create: I really I'm leading over to make a plat-former games like sly copper, or jak and daxter with a combat element with guns, so it's a third person shooter game with a mix of platforming.

Week 5-Project

Game vision statement  Game genre: The game genre that I will be choosing from a serious of options like shooters, action adventure and role playing games I was having a hard time in thinking what type of game I wanted because when ever I get told a project and we have all the power to make it anyone I want I get and have so many different ideas in my head it gets too much sometimes and I had to realise that I was only new to game development so all the complex and cool features that I wanted for my game would be very difficult so I went for one of the simpler routes and chose to make a plat-former game. Gameplay: The gameplay for the plat-former was going to be similar to how super Mario gameplay is because one I liked super Mario so it would be fun to make a game similar to it and Mega man another plat-former just like Mario but instead of just jumping around just like in Mario, Mega man has a shooting aspect in the game, so I know that I'm definitely going to have co...

Week 4-Project

Game Idea Research  From my brainstorm that I have done last week I have now been thinking about type of game I want to make based on all the ideas I made from the brainstorm Ideas that I came up last week and I think I want to make a 2D plat-former type of game, because I believe i'll will have a very enjoyable process when designer the game which is very important that's why it took me a while to pick which idea I wanted to do because one of my ideas was making a zombie fps game but then I realised how hard that's going to be especially with me that has very little game design knowledge. The second reason is because when I was younger I did play a handful of 2D games especially on my DS lite when that was a thing so it would be pretty cool to make a 2D plat-former game. I really want to have the plat-former aspect as one of my game mechanics for this game the movements would be kind of similar to super Mario.  https://www.youtube...

Week 9-project

Week 9 Alpha  My project for this week has been going pretty well I was able to catch up to the point I was at, before I deleted my other file my accident, I was having a bit of problems because my unity was just being very glitchy and it crashed multi of times but I was able to get the work done, which I'm happy about. Here are some screenshot of what I was doing the this week, I made my own level using the tile and grids at first it was very annoying to do because I kept on forgetting to add the grid so the tiles could be on the screen but after a while I got it and then I had to slice all the pixels to 16 by 16 to make it fit the grid I also had to do the same for the sprite character. And there is also a bit of code I just started in I'm able to make the player move left and right and the player can jump
