Week 9-project

Week 9 Alpha  My project for this week has been going pretty well I was able to catch up to the point I was at, before I deleted my other file my accident, I was having a bit of problems because my unity was just being very glitchy and it crashed multi of times but I was able to get the work done, which I'm happy about. Here are some screenshot of what I was doing the this week, I made my own level using the tile and grids at first it was very annoying to do because I kept on forgetting to add the grid so the tiles could be on the screen but after a while I got it and then I had to slice all the pixels to 16 by 16 to make it fit the grid I also had to do the same for the sprite character. And there is also a bit of code I just started in I'm able to make the player move left and right and the player can jump

Week 9-Unity

Unity tutorial 09 I completed lesson 4.4 and challenge 4 on the unity website, I found them pretty easy I did have few problems here and their but at the end of the day I did get them done, it took me roughly like an hour and half to get all the work done.  lesson 4.4 we had to basically make a endless horde mode zombie type game that's the best way I could describe it were the enemies will spawn in waves, and the waves will be spawning multiple enemies at the same time, every time the amount of enemies in that wave drop to zero a whole new round will start, we also made sure to spawn power ups with each of their own iteration, the more waves you get past the more enemies spawn in so it gets harder and harder over time. We learned new skills like how to make the enemies spawn and how to increase the number enemies that spawn after each round once the player wins and defeats that wave and how to also spawn power ups each time a new wave starts up as-well. In challenge 4 we had to

Week 9- review week comments

Review week comments and feedback 1.feedback in: The feedback that I have received from the people in my class in this module has helped me a good bit when it came to my project and a few of the comments were useful, at first I didn't really want to look at any of the comments but I knew if I didn't look at any then maybe my project will not be a that good or as good as it could possibly be if I just look into the feedback some people gave me. One of the feedback I gotten was to stop over analysing things when I was talking about my game the one I accidentally deleted and how I was more focus on how the game looked rather than if the game could actually run. 2.feedback out:  The feedback I have left for other students was alright I just gave them tips on stuff that they may have not known they could do or improve on and sometimes they just made very easy mistakes and I would just point them out, and yeah some of the people in this module are very creative and I was inspired by

Week 9-reading

Reading and Writing  The reading and writing assignments have helped and have been working for me in many ways, one of the ways it has to helping is that U get to learn something new, for example in reading week 3 about game design I learned more about what an actual game is and why even making a game isn't as simple as I thought there has to be a purpose and it can't just have no reason, most of the time when your making a game it must be planned out. My favourite reading was by far week 3 game design because like I said before it help me open and have a completely different perspective when it comes to making a game and the many methods it takes to make a game for example there are many way to generate game ideas like using  Scamper you can use Scamper when your working on a certain genre that you may dislike but it works and brings results and a lot of game designers use this method. I also have been reading this article a-lot and it has helped me when I was making my game

Week 8-reading

Game fun After reading the two articles "Gamification what has fun got to do with it?" and "putting the fun factor into gaming" and the video of "A theory of fun game design. Reading the first article made me rethink how I actually thought of fun when playing a video game because to me the word fun is a very vague word to even explain like love, fun is more of a feeling that you know rather than a word that you can describe of the top  of your head, when I saw " Marc leBlanc's 8 kinds of fun I was kinda of surprised with how he describe them and it actually made sense because I know I really couldn't interoperate the word fun, but I do agree with the words that Marc used like "Sensation" the "Narrative" which is a very important part of story driven games. In the second article it was talking about the enjoyment of social interaction with other players in one part of the article and how more people are enjoying these types of g

Project week 7

prototype My game development was going pretty good until I accidentally deleted the file because I bought the file I was working on in a different folder and I deleted that folder with it, but it's ok I'm going to start again but I can talk about how the process was going for me the good and the bad. The good was that the coding was going pretty good thanks to the tutorials that shaun put us on, on the unity tutorials but then I went on to youtube to learn more about coding especially more on 2D plat-former type of coding because thats the game I'm making so It was pretty helpful for me when I was looking at the tutorials.     Id say I only had a couple problems  was that my work rate has been lacking lately but I'm going to bounce back now so it took me a bit to get to the point of how developed the game was before it was deleted because of my stupid mistake and the second one was picking the sprite and background and all the other assets, because I'm very picky

Week 7-Reading

Games decisions I have  spent at least 30 minutes browsing each of the articles which are "Building a Princess saving app", "Flow experience in computer game playing among thai university students and the video "What is Flow Theory in game design". My perspective on game decisions has also changed, when I was reading the Building a princess article the  learning curve and what can a game teach the player, when I saw the graph for the learning curve for traditional apps I didn't realise that you really don't gain any other useful skills from your time your using the traditional app, I also liked the part where the person writing this was comparing it with photoshop and how it said it took him 3 years to learn photoshop because of how complicated it is, but I find photoshop very easy to use and only took me like 2 weeks to understand most of it., but unlike a traditional app, the skills you learn in a game for example the original super Mario you learn a
