Week4- Unity tutorial 02

 Week4- Unity tutorial 02

This is my second blog discussing my experience after finishing the second unity tutorial and I have to say my second time using this program was way better than the first time because I'm a bit for familiar with how everything works now thanks to the first tutorial I was able to finish each task much faster now and was able to understand what the person was telling me to do because the first tutorial I was having trouble with the code and other software problems but I got passed that now and the program is very easy to use.

In this tutorial we had to learn too move the vehicle left and right instead of it just going straight so now we were able to move it either direction, so now we can actually try and doge the boxes instead of just hitting the boxes, but the only way we can move it was by dragging it to the right or to the left, we then learned about mapping the controls to the keys but the great thing about unity is that it already does it for you which makes thing much easier, so all we had to do was too put it into the code.

We also made sure that we can control the vehicle now because before when you pressed play the vehicle would just move forward on it's on and the only thing we could do was move left to right but now we learned how to mad the controls so we can now move the vehicle forwards and backwards as well as left and right. We also added a code to start the vehicle actually try's to turn to the direction so it looks more realistic.

The challenge 1 plane program was pretty easy because it already learned how to do all the basic movements on the other tutorials.

  1. Hi David, you have done a good job writing up about this topic it’s also good to see that the tutorials are helping you improve with your skills on unity. You must be doing well that you found the plane challenge easy enough because I think most people found it difficult. Good too see your doing well, good luck with the rest of your challenges on unity. :)

Week 9-project

Week 9 Alpha  My project for this week has been going pretty well I was able to catch up to the point I was at, before I deleted my other file my accident, I was having a bit of problems because my unity was just being very glitchy and it crashed multi of times but I was able to get the work done, which I'm happy about. Here are some screenshot of what I was doing the this week, I made my own level using the tile and grids at first it was very annoying to do because I kept on forgetting to add the grid so the tiles could be on the screen but after a while I got it and then I had to slice all the pixels to 16 by 16 to make it fit the grid I also had to do the same for the sprite character. And there is also a bit of code I just started in I'm able to make the player move left and right and the player can jump

Week 7-Reading

Games decisions I have  spent at least 30 minutes browsing each of the articles which are "Building a Princess saving app", "Flow experience in computer game playing among thai university students and the video "What is Flow Theory in game design". My perspective on game decisions has also changed, when I was reading the Building a princess article the  learning curve and what can a game teach the player, when I saw the graph for the learning curve for traditional apps I didn't realise that you really don't gain any other useful skills from your time your using the traditional app, I also liked the part where the person writing this was comparing it with photoshop and how it said it took him 3 years to learn photoshop because of how complicated it is, but I find photoshop very easy to use and only took me like 2 weeks to understand most of it., but unlike a traditional app, the skills you learn in a game for example the original super Mario you learn a...
