Reading week 3-Game design

 Reading week 3-Game design

What is a game anyway?: Reading this made me see that theres to just calling a "game" a game because theres a lot more stuff going into making a game, at first when I saw the article I didn't want to read it because I thought most of it would just be common sense, but then I read the Critical Vocabulary section which made me laugh because what is said was true when we describe a new game to someone, one of the ways we do it is by describing them from other games like this game is basically a downgraded Grand Theft Auto or this game is a mix of Call of duty and Rainbow six siege, and it's not an accurate answer at all because the game most likely doesn't even play like the games we would describe it's like, it's a pretty vague and not a very detailed answer, but most people that play games for a while would understand it, but then I was thinking of the point of view of someone that doesn't play games and how would they digest this information.Another section that I liked was the Weakness of definition section for example "Role-playing games just like the article says "they have word game right in the title" but aren't considered games because they don't have a final outcome like most games and then I started to think that would't must of these role-playing games be in the same definition as a sandbox type of game like Minecraft because that game doesn't have a final outcome as well.

The organic nature of game ideation: Reading this article has showed me more on how more in depth the ideas of making actually takes, for example in the first part the introduction section I learned that you don't have to be super creative person to be able to make a game, it doesn't matter how creative a person can be there always going to hit a blank wall were they can't think of anything and why it's good to recruit people "outside their comfort zone", and I also forgot about how there are many creative methods you can use like brainstorming I always thought brainstorming was something that kids did in primary school I didn't know a lot of people in the work place would use brainstorming and another method is brain writing.

Four Basic Methods for Generating Ideas: I always thought that there was only one way of making or generating ideas was too just think and hopefully you'll figure it out and boom you have a nice idea in your head I didn't know how many methods of generating ideas for example Scamper you can use Scamper when your working on a certain genre that you may dislike but it works and brings results and a lot of game designers use this method. And you can go more in depth with Scamper using substitute and adapt.Another method I liked while reading this article was the Ramsey method because I do think it's true that if you look at the small amount of information that you have gotten after looking closely and deeply into it you'll eventually find more information or ideas.

Week 9-project

Week 9 Alpha  My project for this week has been going pretty well I was able to catch up to the point I was at, before I deleted my other file my accident, I was having a bit of problems because my unity was just being very glitchy and it crashed multi of times but I was able to get the work done, which I'm happy about. Here are some screenshot of what I was doing the this week, I made my own level using the tile and grids at first it was very annoying to do because I kept on forgetting to add the grid so the tiles could be on the screen but after a while I got it and then I had to slice all the pixels to 16 by 16 to make it fit the grid I also had to do the same for the sprite character. And there is also a bit of code I just started in I'm able to make the player move left and right and the player can jump

Project week 7

prototype My game development was going pretty good until I accidentally deleted the file because I bought the file I was working on in a different folder and I deleted that folder with it, but it's ok I'm going to start again but I can talk about how the process was going for me the good and the bad. The good was that the coding was going pretty good thanks to the tutorials that shaun put us on, on the unity tutorials but then I went on to youtube to learn more about coding especially more on 2D plat-former type of coding because thats the game I'm making so It was pretty helpful for me when I was looking at the tutorials.     Id say I only had a couple problems  was that my work rate has been lacking lately but I'm going to bounce back now so it took me a bit to get to the point of how developed the game was before it was deleted because of my stupid mistake and the second one was picking the sprite and background and all the oth...

Week4- Unity tutorial 02

Week4- Unity tutorial 02 This is my second blog discussing my experience after finishing the second unity tutorial and I have to say my second time using this program was way better than the first time because I'm a bit for familiar with how everything works now thanks to the first tutorial I was able to finish each task much faster now and was able to understand what the person was telling me to do because the first tutorial I was having trouble with the code and other software problems but I got passed that now and the program is very easy to use. In this tutorial we had to learn too move the vehicle left and right instead of it just going straight so now we were able to move it either direction, so now we can actually try and doge the boxes instead of just hitting the boxes, but the only way we can move it was by dragging it to the right or to the left, we then learned about mapping the controls to the keys but the great thing about unity is that it already does it for you whic...
