Reading 10

Week 22(10) The topic that I am doing is video game addiciton and in this week we had to make a couple graphics the show more and give an actual image to what we are trying to say and I'm a big into being creative so I really liked this and really really enjoyed doing this part of the project  because I like drawing images and just being creative in general. The first image that I made is basically a guy that's to stuck in the game and he needs to play "one more level" and the person in the back is watching him and he's worried about him, this is what a lot of parents mostly feel when there kids is playing way to much videos and that's their only hobby and how they spend their time day after day, which happens a lot in a lot of households and it sad because the child or the adult sometimes even don't understand how unhealthy and unproductive that lifestyle is and how it will hurt you in the long run. The second image is basica...

Week 20(08)

Reading(08) I just finished writing my essay and I don't know if we had to make the essay on a different topic because I won't lie I had to read what we had to do a lot of times so I'm pretty much assuming that we have to make the essay based on the topic that we have been doing for the past couple weeks and the topic that I have been doing and I'm actually enjoying because I'm learning something new and the topic I'm doing is video game addiction and how it will increase in the next couple years. I watched all the videos on the page and it opened me up on how to write a better essay I tried to apply what I learned from the videos and I'm not going to lie to myself I still got ways to go but I do believe that my essay writing has gotten a bit better and will get better the more I do it thanks to watching those videos. I realised that the essay can't be boring or just a whole summary of what I have been talking about for the past couple of years and I app...

Themes

“Is video game addiction real?” Why was it made? The aim of this particular study is to look at the longer terms and impact when it comes to people that have a particular relationship with video games and how playing video games for a period of time can do to a person over time   , in this article it was based off of a six year study, the longest study ever done on video game addiction, and It’s very rare    it’s also found that 90% of gamers do not play in a way that is harmful or causes negative long term consequences and it’s actually a significant minority , though it’s still very bad because of how people can get truly addicted to video games and as a result can suffer mentally, socially and behaviorally. Start of his journey  In the first story of this article it was about a guy named Charlie Bracke and he was just a normal guy that was playing video games since he was young at the age of 5   , he was playing old 2D games and many others, In his tee...

Annotated Bibliography 1   Utah, Cami Buckley. “Is video game addiction real”. May 13 2020. A recent six-year study, the longest study ever done on video game addiction, found that about 90% of gamers do not play in a way that is harmful or causes negative long-term consequences. A significant minority, though, can become truly addicted to video games and as a result can suffer mentally, socially and behaviorally.   Who wrote the document:  Cami Buckley    What does the document discusses:  The aim of this particular study is to look at the longer terms and impact when it comes to people that have a particular relationship with video games and how playing video games for a period of time can do to a person over time, in this article it was based off of a six year study, the longest study ever done on video game addiction, and it’s also found that 90% of gamers do not play in a way that is harmful or causes negative long term consequences and it’s act...

Tutorial 06

Week 19(07) In this lesson we learned how to use a user interface which overlays images and text on your science to show information. This section was pretty interesting I'll be honest but I wouldn't say that I enjoyed doing this but it was still pretty interesting to learn for example we learned how to create a UI canvas. We also had to use a rect transform and what that is it's basically still a transform but it has an additional UI data that you can look up later on and there was other functions like the canvas scaler. World interactions was pretty cool we learned how raycasting is very useful to interactive applications because it allows you to detect things like colliders, and I didn't know raycasting has a lot of other options depends on the type of game you are making for example to check whether there is anything between the main characters position and an enemy position.

Reading 07

Week 19(07) I just finished reading the two people that were in my triad which were Francis and Aaron so I gave them feedback but for some reason my link didn't work and I had no access to change my name into a link which kinda annoyed me but I emailed shaun so that I can get sorted it out. But yeah it was very pretty interesting on how people came up with different ideas with there themes and for example Aaron was talking about how video games can make some people have a false sense of reality which is pretty interesting I didn't know that so I guess I learnt something new which is good because I like learning, the only thing I need to get sorted is fix the my link so I can get my feedback and review it.

Tutorial 05

Week 18(06) In the first lesson we had to use cinemachine which was very new to me because I have only been using the basic steady static camera and what basically what cinemachine is it is a unity package that will automatically control your camera without the need of using code which is very very handy because I know a lot of people including me not really into coding that much this type of camera is also used when it comes to big open world games which is pretty cool in my opinion.  The second lesson was visual styling particles, for the particles system we had to do a couple of things for example preparing the sprites,  adding a smoke effect which I didn't even know you could do which blows me mind another one was adding randomness to the particles which is a nice way to make the particles look way better and not boring and ass predictable.

Reading 06

Week 18(06) I just finished doing reading task 06 and I got to say that this was one was very easy and it was just a breeze and I got this done way quicker than I have when it came to doing the other task that I have done I guess it's because we already had the themes and all of that already sorted so it wasn't as hard and difficult as I thought it was and I just flew through all the paragraphs that I had done I also did four paragraphs that are about the themes that I have done. And the themes that I have done was how video game addiction started, how video game addiciton is a global issue and not just and issue in the western world, neglecting your real life because you always play so many video games, how many different methods they are to stop or decrease the amount of times you play video games.

Tutorial 04

Week 17 (05) I just finished unity tutorial 04 which was pretty tedious at first because for some reason my unity was just not wanting to work or start up for some reason and my save files and application crashed 3 times while I was making it which was very annoying but after that it was pretty easy well kind of I was still struggling at first but eventually I was flying through it. In the first part we was just animating are sprite character which was annoying because their was a lot of coding and I won't lie I'm not a very big fan of coding in fact I'm not a big fan of it at all we had to do things like using a blend tree using the parameters as well, it was pretty cool to know that unity has a lot of different features which I had no clue that they had I was pretty shocked with the amount of features it has even if it's the free version of it. We also had to set up the animation for the main...

Week 17(05)

Reading 05 I just finished doing reading 05 and I won't lie at first I had no clue to what was going on or how I had to do it, I was just watching the video and it didn't make no sense at first but I watched the video a couple more times and then it started to make more sense with the coding documents and coming up and making themes from the codes we have came up with from are Bibliographies that we have made in the past couple of weeks. The topic that I was picked was video game addiction and how people get addicted to playing video games and why it's increasing more rapidly and it's one day going to become a more global issue as the years come up because even though video game addiction is still pretty small in the western countries unlike the Asian countries like china and Korea it will most likely increase over the years and thanks to the pandemic it's going to increase that's why I picked this topic. This i...

Week 15(03)

Reading 03 I spent 3 hours on this reading task and have learned about on how to research when it comes to doing my topic, which is video game addiction at first I learned that there was many different ways when it comes researching the reading that have been doing. This is one of the annotated bibliography that I have done, I had to use the MLA style of referencing when I was doing them, my first annotated bibliography was more simple it was a summary annotation while the second and third one where evaluative annotation which is more detailed and I guess you can say more of what your thoughts are, but I really wasn't good on how to organise the last two so I kinda of gone with what I thought felt and looked right when I was writing them.

Week 14(02)

Tutorial 01 I finished the unity tutorial and I won't lie I have been pretty rusty when it came to doing the coding and all of that I probably need to watch a couple of tutorials again so I my workflow when it comes to making and fishing the assignments that we get from unity and other projects that we are going to do in the future. I chose the "Ruby's Adventure 2D beginners" at of all the other one, because from my project in the last semester I made a 2D platform game or I tried my best to anyway, so I probably will stick to this route, at first it was a bit difficult but I did get the hang of it. In the tutorial we had to learn to use and customise the unity editor, how to world layout and design using tile maps which I had already done in my last project so that was very very easy for to do, we also had to adapt static sprites to animated sprites and I won't lie it was very difficult and first that's a part I must li...

Reading 02 Week 14

Planning Today I was planning on how I'm going to approach my topic which is video game addiction at first I was pretty confused on how to start the planning, to be honest I didn't even want to do it because I really didn't understand what was going on, but eventually I just read it over and over and it finally made since which just doing research, like how much information can I get from the topic, does my topic have a lot of in depth information on it so I won't get stuck when I'm writing my topic. Here is a screenshot of my topic checklist that I made for my topic which is again video game addiction, and after I don't this checklist I way more confident in what I'm going to this project And here are some links that I found as well Link 1:  https://www.uk-rehab.com/behavioural-addictions/gaming/ Link 2:  https://www.verywellmind.com/what-is-video-game-addiction-22333 Link 3:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_addicti...

Week 11 unity tutorial

unity tutorial I did all the unity tutorials I for this week I did lesson 5.1, lesson 5.2 lesson 5.3,  In lesson 5.1 five in Unity was pretty easy since I'm already getting pretty used to how unity works with lots of practice, in this lesson we has to switch the game to a 2D view, the outcome for this lesson was to make a list of three good objects and one bad objects and they will spawn at random position at the bottom of the screen, these targets will get destroyed when the player clicks on them. Lesson 5.2 we has to make a score section that will display on the Ui starting at zero when the player clicks a target, the score will update and I won't lie I did have trouble with this part it did take me and couple more minutes to get it to work but eventual I did finally got it too work. Lesson 5.3 we had to implement a game over feature to the game where when ever the good targets drop below the sensor at the bottom of the screen, the targets will stop spawning and a game over ...

Week 11-Reading

Games Testing I have read the two articles the "7 different types of game testing techniques and the "computer games are serious business and so is their quality particularities of software testing in game development from the perspective of practitioners". The first article I liked was pretty interesting because I thought game testing for your new game was a very simple process and there really shouldn't be any type of techniques to test a game but there are actually a lot of risk that come into game testing for example the game could not create a compelling a experience for the niche audience, the game could be missing a major fun factor or maybe the game is not unique and could just be another call of duty or grand theft auto clone. There are many methods when it comes to game testing for example functionality testing which is a form of testing that is used to confirm whether the end product works and it follows all the specifications that you want your game to ...

Week 10-unity tutorial

Week 10-unity tutorial  In lesson 5.1 five in Unity was pretty easy since I'm already getting pretty used to how unity works with lots of practice, in this lesson we has to switch the game to a 2D view, the outcome for this lesson was to make a list of three good objects and one bad objects and they will spawn at random position at the bottom of the screen, these targets will get destroyed when the player clicks on them. Lesson 5.3 we had to implement a game over feature to the game where when ever the good targets drop below the sensor at the bottom of the screen, the targets will stop spawning and a game over message will appear on the screen. And we also had to add a reset game bu...

Week 9-project

Week 9 Alpha  My project for this week has been going pretty well I was able to catch up to the point I was at, before I deleted my other file my accident, I was having a bit of problems because my unity was just being very glitchy and it crashed multi of times but I was able to get the work done, which I'm happy about. Here are some screenshot of what I was doing the this week, I made my own level using the tile and grids at first it was very annoying to do because I kept on forgetting to add the grid so the tiles could be on the screen but after a while I got it and then I had to slice all the pixels to 16 by 16 to make it fit the grid I also had to do the same for the sprite character. And there is also a bit of code I just started in I'm able to make the player move left and right and the player can jump

Week 9-Unity

Unity tutorial 09 I completed lesson 4.4 and challenge 4 on the unity website, I found them pretty easy I did have few problems here and their but at the end of the day I did get them done, it took me roughly like an hour and half to get all the work done.  lesson 4.4 we had to basically make a endless horde mode zombie type game that's the best way I could describe it were the enemies will spawn in waves, and the waves will be spawning multiple enemies at the same time, every time the amount of enemies in that wave drop to zero a whole new round will start, we also made sure to spawn power ups with each of their own iteration, the more waves you get past the more enemies spawn in so it gets harder and harder over time. We learned new skills like how to make the enemies spawn and how to increase the number enemies that spawn after each round once the player wins and defeats that wave and how to also spawn power ups each time a new wave starts up as-well. ...

Week 9- review week comments

Review week comments and feedback 1.feedback in: The feedback that I have received from the people in my class in this module has helped me a good bit when it came to my project and a few of the comments were useful, at first I didn't really want to look at any of the comments but I knew if I didn't look at any then maybe my project will not be a that good or as good as it could possibly be if I just look into the feedback some people gave me. One of the feedback I gotten was to stop over analysing things when I was talking about my game the one I accidentally deleted and how I was more focus on how the game looked rather than if the game could actually run. 2.feedback out:  The feedback I have left for other students was alright I just gave them tips on stuff that they may have not known they could do or improve on and sometimes they just made very easy mistakes and I would just point them out, and yeah some of the people in this module are very creative and I was inspir...

Week 9-reading

Reading and Writing  The reading and writing assignments have helped and have been working for me in many ways, one of the ways it has to helping is that U get to learn something new, for example in reading week 3 about game design I learned more about what an actual game is and why even making a game isn't as simple as I thought there has to be a purpose and it can't just have no reason, most of the time when your making a game it must be planned out. My favourite reading was by far week 3 game design because like I said before it help me open and have a completely different perspective when it comes to making a game and the many methods it takes to make a game for example there are many way to generate game ideas like using  Scamper you can use Scamper when your working on a certain genre that you may dislike but it works and brings results and a lot of game designers use this method. I also have been reading this article a-lot and it has helped me when I was making m...
